CURRICULUM INTEGRATION
This webquest can be an extension to unit 9, 'Earth Day Every Day', of Grade 6 English Book. It aligns with the curriculum of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teaching in Greek primary schools.
DURATION
The current wequest can last for about 8 teaching sessions.
EXPECTED RESULTS
Students are expected to expand soft skills, such as collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking. Moreover, through their exposure to the suggested resources, they are expected to practise their reading and listening skills in EFL. While working in groups they can further develop their speaking and writing skills. They are finally expected to be effective web consumers and creators.
TEACHING APPROACH
This webquest has the form of a project which requires students to work in groups and produce material for a particular purpose, i.e. raise people's awareness for endangered animals. A cross-curricular approach is also followed since Environmental Education,Technology and Art are integrated with English. The teacher acts as the facilitator who supports students' work and helps out with possible problems that may arise.
